In six years Dane would progress from rabid volunteer to head brewer at one of the Bay Area’s leading gastropubs, Magnolia. Dane crossed the country, landing in San Francisco, where a high school hobby became a full-time profession. After graduation each wished the other well and split for separate coasts. Fast friends and freshman roommates, they came up together during their years at UNH. Liars Bench first began when Dane and Dagan built a board & nail bar in the basement of their first apartment. The brewery opened its doors and taps in 2016 in an old plumbing supply warehouse. Liar’s Bench is a small brewery founded by two UNH graduates who strive to create beer rooted in tradition. Liars Bench Beer Company 459 Islington St #4 Portsmouth, NH 03801 (603) 294-9156 We are inspired by where we live, and find it fun to experiment with local ingredients such as fresh fruits, maple syrup, and honey. Our goal is to have 5 beers on tap to start (but we may not be able to wait that long!), one being a seasonal or specialty. We enjoy creating new recipes and incorporating local ingredients whenever possible. Our friends and family helped make it happen, helping to rip up floors, smash walls, raise walls, paint, and lug equipment around. So we went for it! We’ve been working hard on the construction side of things for over a year now. We had an opportunity to turn the cottage on our property to a brewery, and we thought. The idea that was being tossed around in the back of our minds since that first questionable batch, all of a sudden grew fast with ev ery new piece of equipment purchased and tasty brews developed. Woodman’s Brewery was created in our home kitchen, in a 5 gallon homebrew kit a number of years ago. Our goal is to provide delicious brews and a welcoming environment for you! It all started with the simple idea to do something you enjoy, with the people you love, to be creative, and to share that with our community, friends, and family. We’re a small family owned & operated brewery. This location here in the Henry Paper Mill is no exception. Michael has the charming outlook that all beautiful spaces should be breweries. He graduated from the Siebel institute of Technology with a diploma in Brewing Technology in ’97 and earned a certificate in brewing from the Institute of Brewing & Distilling in ’08. He has been honored with many awards and metals (gold & silver from the Great American Beer Festival) for his beers and has worked with numerous breweries nationally. His influences come from growing up in England and Germany as a young lad. As most insane adventures start, they asked each other, “well why the hell not?” As a professional seasoned Brewer, Michael’s passion is German lagers, although he’ll drink just about anything, especially if it’s free and cold. Partners in all things good in life, Jennifer and Michael Snyder came across the opportunity to relocate One Love Brewery into the historic Henry Paper Mill in Lincoln, NH from Dover, NH in January 2015.
